Course revision/troubleshooting program
On Sunday the 14th of September, Josh Verlin and Romeo Salla will also be presenting a 4 hour course revision/troubleshooting program. The program will be held live at Melbourne University or Victoria University (precise location to be advised) and will provide a coverage of all five areas of study in VCE Economics, with a specific focus on the most difficult parts of the course. Students should note that this program is focused primarily on course content/knowledge, whereas the Exam Preparation Program (and workshops) focus on application of knowledge to answer examination questions. Comprehensive notes are provided to all participants. Ticket prices are $65 per person. Economics Unit 3/4 Exam Preparation Program - Webinar
The program will occur on Sunday the 12th of October 2025 via Webinar commencing at 1.00pm and will be presented by Romeo Salla, an experienced teacher, examination assessor (including as Chief Assessor) and former Economist. Romeo will assist students to prepare for the examination and write responses in a way that enables them to perform at their peak and impress the examination assessors. The program will include advice on areas to focus, clarification of common errors made by past students, tips on how to allocate precious time, strategies to assist students to interpret questions, an analysis of the most difficult questions and terms from past exams and an analysis of possible questions in light of recent economic developments. Comprehensive notes will be provided and there will be a bonus 30 minute question & answer/tutorial session at the conclusion of the program. Ticket prices are $50 per person. One day Workshop on 30 September
A VCE Economics One Day Intensive Workshops facilitated by Romeo Salla and Josh Verlin at the University of Melbourne will be held on Monday 29 September 2025, commencing at 9.15am and concluding at 4.15pm.
Participants will be directed through a series of ‘hands on’ activities designed to enhance examination performance. This includes analysis of sample responses, exercises to unpack the most difficult parts of the course, and strategies to incorporate relevant and contemporary information into examination responses. Students will be guided through a step-by-step approach for structuring responses to challenging or possible questions. Each workshop will include the preparation of sample A+ responses as well as the analysis of those responses that lack sufficient detail or contain common mistakes. Participants will also be guided through a series of exercises to unpack the most difficult and new parts of the course, as well as strategies to incorporate relevant and/or contemporary information into their responses. The overriding emphasis in the workshop is to guide students through a process that helps them to apply their knowledge in the examination. Students are provided with extensive opportunities to quiz experienced examination assessors and comprehensive notes are provided to all participants. Lunch and refreshments are also included in the price.

The facilitators
Romeo Salla holds Honours and Masters degrees in Commerce (Economics Major) from the University of Melbourne, Victoria. In the early 1990’s, he worked as an economist with both the Commonwealth Department of Treasury in Canberra, as well as the Industry Commission (now Productivity Commission) in Melbourne. From 1995, he completed his Diploma of Education at Monash University and then commenced teaching VCE Economics. Since his move to the education sector, Romeo has been prominent in advancing the interests of the economics discipline and he has continued to undertake professional development to ensure that he can provide the best possible quality of education to students. He has taught VCE Economics for 20+ years, is an experienced assessor of VCE Economics exams (including the role of Chief Assessor) and is the founder of both www.economicstutor.com.au and the popular smartphone App ‘Economics Tutor’. Romeo also provides professional development seminars to teachers, presents student lectures on an annual basis, and is the co-author of the Year 12 economics text ‘Economic Fundamentals in Australia’ (CPAP), the year 11 text ‘Economics: from the ground up’ and ‘The CPAP Study Guide to VCE Economics’.
Josh Verlin completed a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance and Economics majors) before starting a career in finance. He currently works at Brighton Grammar School and Melbourne University where he teaches VCE Economics and commerce teaching respectively. Josh is a lover of all things economics and finance and is a self-described ‘economics nerd’. He regularly contributes to the Victorian Commercial Teachers Association publication (COMPAK), sat on the advisory panel for the current VCE Economics study design and regularly assesses VCE Economics exams for the VCAA (including in the capacity as co-Chief Assessor). Josh has been a co-writer of both the Unit 1 and 2 CPAP Economics practice examinations and ‘The CPAP Study Guide to VCE Economics’. He also posts regular economics videos to YouTube for VCE students.
